Best Vitamin Supplements: How Do You Choose?

Best vitamin supplements for Natural Health SolutionsWhat are the best vitamin supplements available?

How does one go about choosing the best?

Are all vitamins the same? How can one company offer a multi-vitamin for $5.99 and another one offer one for $23.05? What is the difference?

What you don’t know CAN hurt you. Many people want to be investing in the best vitamin supplements available but it is hard to separate advertising from truth.

There is one key difference that you need to know about the best vitamin supplements to judge their efficacy – but I’ll get to that in a minute.

360YourLife.com is a great health site with a wealth of information. They have an awesome article called “3 Types of Vitamin Supplements.” I have paraphrased their article here, but do go check out their site. I know you will love it.

An Inside Look at the Three Vitamin Supplement Types

1. Synthetic: These are made in a test tube in a lab to look like the real thing. Synthetic vitamins can be toxic to the body, might not be absorbed, and can even do more harm than good. Check out the Landmark Study which proved this. These types of vitamins are usually found in a drug store or a discount store.

A synthetic vitamin has no enzymes, is man-made, contains inorganic substances, is a stimulant, has side effects, and can actually be more harmful to your health to take than being on no vitamin at all.

2. Extracted: These vitamins start out natural, but are heated through the processing which kills off the live enzymes. The final product is a partially-live (if live at all) vitamin. This type of vitamin also usually has harsh binders and fillers, plastic coatings, and in some cases, contains tar.

A crystalline or extracted vitamin is characterized by weak enzymes, uses chemical and heat extraction, has some organic substances (but can be low quality raw materials), is a stimulant, is imbalanced, and has harsh binders and fillers.

These type of vitamins are usually found in a health food store or a strictly-vitamin store. Brands need to have only 10% natural ingredients to legally be classified as “all-natural.”

3. Natural: These vitamins are cold-pressed to extract all the vitamins resulting in live enzymes. This means you get something as close to nature as possible – full of nutrients that are useable by the body. These vitamins are often referred to as whole food vitamins, like the Shaklee brand, which are 100% natural.

A natural, unaltered vitamin has strong, enzymatic action, uses low or no heat and low pressure process, uses organic substances, feeds and improves the cell’s health, is balanced, and contains essential unknown nutrients.

The Best Vitamin Supplements Have One Key Difference

We have established that natural, whole food vitamins are the best, because of one key difference: their enzymes are alive so they can truly feed the cells.

Building your health up starts with helping your cells be healthy. I love real live examples, don’t you? Check out this post where two stories are contrasted – one woman in failing health and another one who chose healthy supplements – and went on a cruise at age 100! Learn her secret  so you can emulate it.

This is just the beginning of learning how to choose your vitamins. For a more in-depth look at evaluating the best vitamin supplements for you and your family, choosing which ones to take, and addressing objections, grab my private report on the right over there: “A Wildly Effective Daily Health Boost.” You will be surprised how easily you can be on your way to optimum health.

Remember that the key to the best vitamin supplements is that they have live enzymes and are whole food, natural vitamins. That is why I believe Shaklee has the best vitamin supplements and why I have chosen Shaklee for my family’s health.

Definitely, and you not only have to check the ingredients, but also check for clinical studies that have been done on that vitamin brand NOT by the manufacturer to be sure that the vitamins really do what they say they do. That is why I am so crazy about Shaklee. They do more than 80,000 annual tests on raw materials before they are put in the products. You are so right that you have to do more investigation than just being happy with the word “natural” on the bottle!

Hi Carly, Eating a lot of organic fruits and vegetables is a very good practice. Good for you. Unfortunately, due to poor soil, chemicals, etc. food grown today isn’t nearly as vitamin dense as it was 60 years ago – even the organic sources. That is why I “fill in the gaps” with my Vitalizer supplement pack from Shaklee. I have a lot of energy, never get sick, am on zero prescriptions, and people can’t believe my age (almost 59 at the time of writing this.) How cool is that? Thanks for stopping and commenting.

Good for you for being careful. I also appreciate doctors who do their research to find the best natural, whole food vitamins to recommend to their patients. They are out there, though few and far between. Dr. Stephen Chaney, Dr. Sandra Bevacqua, Dr. Richard Brouse, Dr. Jaime McManus are some of my favorites. Also, you might want to take a look at the Landmark study results as it even proved that many of the people on retail store vitamins had the worse record than the other control groups. So you are wise to be wary and do your homework. Good luck.
