Don’t let the word “detoxing” alarm you.

Detoxing is really just another name for cleansing. A toxin is anything that causes harmful or irritating effects inside our bodies.

Every day we are exposed to chemicals in our environment, air and water pollution, as well as radiation. Our diets might consist of refined foods, lots of sugar, and we are often using antibiotics to fight off sickness.

And our stress levels? – well, let’s not even go there.ultra detox bath

Signs of toxic overload can include dry and splotchy skin, rashes, infections, lack of energy, joint pain, allergies, bloating, constipation, and just a general feeling of fatigue.

The major way to help our body detox is to support elimination through  drinking lots of water and eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as consuming fewer meat and dairy products.

In The UltraMind Solution [affiliate link], Dr. Mark Hyman lists one of the keys to ultra wellness as “enhancing detoxification.”  Dr. Hyman talks about learning how to press the “pause” button on our lives to help us relax and handle stress better.

For the ultra detox bath, fill your tub with hot water. While the water is filling, add two cups of Epsom salts, a half cup of baking soda, and ten drops of lavender oil. Be sure to put the oil on the epsom salts before pouring that under the running water so that the lavender oil gets deeply into the water and doesn’t just sit on the top. You can also buy epsom salts with lavendar already added like Dr Teal’s Epsom Salts [affiliate link].

Epsom salts that you included in your ultra bath are pure magnesium, which the body needs to maintain healthy tissues. Magnesium draws off toxins and improves circulation. It has a real body cleansing effect.

Before you get into your prepared bath, do dry skin brushing. This is a real enhancement to helping your body detoxify.

Get in the tub and soak for twenty minutes. Light a candle and put on music too if that appeals to you.  Use a nourishing body wash. After soaking in your relaxing bath and towel drying off, rub a natural body lotion into your skin. I love the silky feel I get from adding in a body serum too. (Note: you can score all three of these products in the Body Ritual Trio. It’s nourishment for your body from the outside in.

Taking Calcium & Magnesium in a tablet in addition to soaking in an ultra detox bath can help your body relax and get rid of toxins.

When you are done, drink a tall glass of room-temperature, filtered water.

Of course, there are other ways to rid your body of toxins, such as exercising, saunas, massage, and as I mentioned before, enhancing your diet to improve elimination.

I encourage you to do more research on effective ways to detox your body that will result in improved appearance, better health, restful sleep, and improved mood.
