8 Damaging Parenting Styles
In Tim Elmer’s book Generation iY, he lists 8 damaging parenting styles. Just like a butterfly must experience the struggle of breaking out of the cocoon to strengthen its wings, so also our youth must mature into adulthood by experiencing failure, relating to difficult people, and other hard things we would like to protect them from. Continue reading
The Right Tool to Solve the Rock of the Poor Economy
I recently was inspired to think about how to solve the poor economy. At the 2011 Shaklee convention, I had the privilege of hearing Aron Ralsted speak to us. Aron is an extreme outdoor explorer who narrowly escaped death in 2003 during a hike through the Blue John Canyon in Utah. Aron had his arm pinned by a half-ton boulder for nearly a week and he made the agonizing decision to cut off his right arm in order to free himself with a pocketknife. Continue reading
The Safest Mosquito Repellent Ever
Have you wondered what is the safest mosquito repellent out there? One you can safely use on your small children without harming them? Mosquitos are so pesky and annoying, but more than that, they harm us with their bites – leaving welts and itching patches on our delicate skin. Where is the safest mosquito repellent to stop the bites but not harm our bodies? Continue reading
Kinza’s Adoption Story
My husband and I decided to share Kinza’s adoption story at her high school graduation party. We had to leave out a lot of the details in order to keep it to 10 minutes because her party was also a piano concert performed by Kinza, including songs that she composed. Stay tuned for a video or two of her playing the piano. But the highlights of Kinza’s adoption story are included here. Continue reading
Reflections on the Speed of Childhood
I’ve been entertaining reflections on the speed of childhood as the time for high school graduation for my daughter gets closer. One of my favorite songs through the years has been “Turn Around” that was made popular by a Kodak commercial. This quick song will totally emphasize your reflections on the speed of childhood. Continue reading
A Christmas Gift to Give to Jesus
Have you ever thought about what you could give to Jesus for Christmas? That has certainly been a desire of my heart. When our first three children were 3, 4, and 6 yrs old, we wanted to do something as a family for a gift to Jesus – after all, it was His birthday. Continue reading
Turn Black Friday Green
In just a few days many people will freely remove money from their wallets in exchange for deals to entertain, decorate, eat, wear, etc. for themselves or others as gifts. I guess it is well-named as “black” Friday since the desire for deals overshadows healthy contemplation about a purchase.

The Language of Your Hands
When was the last time you really studied your hands? I mean really examined them? I have a theory about hands. My theory is that hands have their own language. Not a language of words, of course, but rather hands are the main way you interact with your world. With your hands you embrace life or push it away. Think about it: language involves speaking good words, hurtful words, neutral words, or no words. It is the same way with hands: they can communicate kindness and gentleness, or hatefulness and anger. Yes, hands have a definite language.

Getting Kids to Take Vitamins: Six Tips
Many of you are on a mission to get healthier and that includes your family’s health, but alas, you are having trouble getting your kids to take vitamins that you know will improve their health. Your problem could be the result of the kid never having been made to take vitamins before and they simply don’t want to. Or, it could be that they have been taking an inferior vitamin (possibly loaded with sugar and binders), and so they don’t like the flavor of the higher-quality, natural supplement you want them to switch to.
