Surprising Key to Weight Loss that is Seldom Mentioned
Ever wonder what is the real key to weight loss? The first step to being successful in your efforts?
Of course you have.
You think about it when you are looking in the mirror before a shower while pushing away a feeling of disgust. Frustration. A feeling of “what’s the use?”
Even if you only have 5 or 10 lbs to lose, you can still feel that dissatisfaction with your body when you see a photo of yourself. Right?
And you embrace the lie “I’ll always be like this.”
You are beautiful – made in God’s image . . . a temple of His Holy Spirit. And don’t ever forget my mantra: Losing weight does not make you a more valuable person in God’s eyes. He loves you whatever size you are at. I am talking about being healthier, not thinner!
But I digress.
Back to the question here.
What is the key to the first step for successful weight loss?
No matter what great program you invest in, it is fruitless without implementing this key.
No matter how much you pay for a super coach, it is all for nothing unless you act on this key.
What is it?
Short and simple, the key to weight loss is your decision to lose weight!
Think about it – everything starts in your mind.
When you eat a fatty hamburger or a big piece of cake, it first started in your mind – you wanted it, you rationalized it, you decided to eat it. Right?
The same is true with deciding to lose weight.
On August 9th, 2012 I had an epiphany myself. The Shaklee convention had a theme of sorts for being an optimal weight. They talked about how a healthy weight is the entry point for good health.
I’m such a healthy person – perfect blood pressure, perfect cholesterol levels, no prescription drugs, have regular massages and chiropractor visits, exercise daily, and all that good stuff.
BUT I was 37 lbs overweight. (Okay, the 37 lbs is relative. We tend to think in terms of weight but we really should think in terms of healthy.)
I changed my mind. I changed my size. I changed my life.
No more excuses. You have only one life and only one body. If you wreck your car, you can go buy a new one. If you wreck your body, you can’t go buy a new one. Your stuck with your wrecked body for life.
Nothing can happen to your physical body until it first starts in your mind.
Isaiah 30:19 says “I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live.” Now I am taking this out of context but the point is still there for you in my application here.
You have a choice. Choose life for your body. Decide right now to take the first step needed for successful weight loss.
