lesson from War RoomWhile I was at a Shaklee convention awhile ago, I heard this: “To sell $200 of products requires skill; to sell $200,000 of products requires a strategy.

I eagerly began to work out my strategy for growing my business. When I got home from convention, I hit it full force. Yes, I was going somewhere.
But – it didn’t feel right. I wasn’t being me. I didn’t have peace. I woke up with dread instead of delight. The Lord helped me refocus and get my priorities back in line with the purpose that He gave me – to help people take their next step spiritually and/or physically. His peace returned. I was on target.

But God had another strategy lesson for me.

On the urging of a friend, I went to see “War Room,” a new movie out about prayer. I had been planning to see it but was going to wait for it to come out on dvd. I knew even by watching the trailers that I needed to deepen my prayer life.

“Prayer needs a strategy.”

It hit me like a brick – the word strategy again.
I had responded thoroughly when I heard that my business needed a strategy. Now I needed to prepare a prayer strategy and put it to work if I wanted to draw closer to my Lord, affect people’s lives, and make a difference for eternity.
We are in a battle – a spiritual battle – and we must take up our armor to fight for the victory. Ephesians 5:12 says “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (NASB)

Here are some reflections from the actors and producers of  “War Room:”

Luke 14:31 says “Or what king, when he sets out to meet another king in battle, will not first sit down and consider whether he is strong enough with ten thousand men to encounter the one coming against him with twenty thousand?” (NASB)

Today I wrote out my prayer strategy and implemented it. I toyed with the idea of sharing my strategy with you, but then I realized you can google “prayer strategy” and get some ideas. I must confess, though, that my prayer strategy doesn’t look like anything I saw online in the few I looked at that came up first.

And really, there is no right or wrong way to create a prayer strategy. Just make it work for you.  (But if you really want to know what mine is, let me know in the comments and I will email it to you.)
In conclusion, if you run a business, do you have a business strategy?
And if you homeschool, do you have a teaching strategy?
Or if you are a realtor, do you have a selling strategy?
Of course you do!
So, if you are committed to the Lord Jesus, do you have a prayer strategy?
Check out the lesson I learned from "War Room" on the need for prayer strategy.
