The Power of Learning to Write with Saltiness
Category:Christian blogger, have you ever considered learning to write with saltiness?
A funny thing happened to me the other day. I was reading some of my favorite Christian bloggers’ posts and leaving comments when I came across the comment of another person that linked back to her own blogpost.
The subject line intrigued me.
I followed her link and read an AMAZING blogpost by her. I then looked around on her blog and read another blogpost.
It was salty. She drew me in – it made me want more. I could feel her heartbeat and it resonated with me.
I signed up for her free e-book and her list and believe it or not, I bought a book she wrote that is on kindle – all while on her site!
Why? Because her writing was salty . . . seasoned with grace.
This Christain blogger is a kindred spirit and I loved the way she communicated and what she had to say because she was using her life as the best content for her blog.
No one told me to go there. I simply followed her breadcrumbs from her comment on another blog.
There is a huge and powerful element that she is using to draw in her target audience.
And that is effective copywriting.
I like to think of it as learning to write with saltiness.
Whether you are a marketer or not, what you write has the potential to impact people for good or unfortunately, for evil.
Your emails, your letters, your blogposts, your posts on facebook, your comments on blogs . . . everywhere you write something . . . has the power to encourage or discourage.
Colossians 4:6a says “Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt.”
When we are able to articulate our thoughts well in written form, our words are seasoned with salt – making them tasty to the ones reading them.
Spending time in God’s Word every day will keep us close to Him, hearing His voice, and letting His perspective permeate our writings.
What are your thoughts on being salty in your speech and writings?
