Online Marketing BusinessAs a Christian entrepreneur, have you ever thought any of these statements regarding your home business efforts?

Disclosure: This post may contain affiliate links. See full disclosure here.“I am so overwhelmed. I don’t know what to do.”

“I have attended so many webinars and bought so many courses, not to mention plugins and easy-to-use sites for advancing my websites analytics, and yet I am not getting conversions.”

“I know what to do . . . I just need the time to do it.”

“I’m broke. My out-go is more than my income. Something has got to give.”

Well, you are not alone. This is the biggest hazard for your online marketing business.

You need a system to follow that works for you.

Now, mind you, you are following a system whether you realize it or not. It is just a bad one – one that is broken.

W. Edwards Deming said, “Put a good person in a bad system, and the system will win every time.”

To help you understand your dilemma, let’s look at your house. Your house at its core is made up of two things: structure and systems.

It’s structure is its particular style – cape cod, ranch, split-level, etc. – and includes exactly how the rooms are arranged and their size and function. Basically, your house’s structure is its different parts all put together to make a whole.

The second thing your house is made up of is its systems.

Systems in your home make it so that your home can function and serve its purpose for you to live there comfortably. Your home’s systems include heating and cooling, electricity, plumbing, ventilation – those kinds of things.

Now let me ask you this: when is the main time you consciously think about the systems in your home? Exactly – when they are not working, right? And then you think about it a lot and try to fix it.

If your tub drain is plugged up, you take measures to unplug it and get it working again.

If your electricity goes off, you call the electric company to come fix it.

If your home’s systems aren’t working at optimal levels, then your home can not serve its purpose very well either.
It is the same with your online marketing business. You have to have good systems in place for it to run smoothly and help you accomplish the purpose of your business.

Three Common Roadblocks to Moving Forward in your Online Marketing Business

Roadblock #1. You have no idea what the systems of your business should be.

Roadblock #2. You don’t know how to fix the systems when they are broken.

Roadblock #3. You know the systems that you need but you are so busy with details (and distractions, might I add) that you are paralyzed in how to get the systems rolling.

Slow down. Stop. Take a deep breath.

I know what you are feeling because I have been there too.

Answer this question: what is the function of a business?

You have to know the function of your business in order to get working systems into place to accomplish your purpose.

This is my favorite definition of a business by Noah St. John:

“The essential function of a business is to provide value to a set of human beings and realize a profit from that activity.”

This aligns well with our purpose in life to have a business that glorifies God and to promote His kingdom in our business efforts. That is what Christian business building is all about.

In The Secret Code of Success, St John reveals five systems that are essential to every business – well, every life really – not just businesses.

Check out the five systems here. You will learn how all of these systems need to be working properly, or your income, your peace of mind, your health, and your relationships will suffer.
